For most of my career I was a painter, both in oil and acrylics and a collage artist. I eventually started taking photos and having that image put onto a silk screen that I then transferred to my canvas. There is a whole series on my web site of “Rose Memories” that reflect this medium. With the advent of the digital camera and Adobe workshops, I then had the ability to create and refine my photographic work to my satisfaction without a middleman. I was able to print the actual photograph as I felt it should look, both in form and color and scale. I had the good fortune of traveling in Africa last Fall and took these photos. I was then able to come home and work on them to make each image more perfect, or more perfect as to my vision. It is in fact a most empowering process. I do not think I have given up my painting background, but there is the percolating idea of doing some kind of collage with my photographic images in a painted process. We will see. |
